I think I strongly prefer this Letterman performance to other versions of the song. Seems like the two singers legit love each other or something (not sure if this is true). Maybe I just h8 Jay Leno so much that I instinctively am loving this. Feel like the girl singer might be super high during this performance. Did feel a little distracted by the accordion girl though. Not sure what the aesthetic of this band is supposed to be. Seems like everyone is going for their own hipster/bohemian look and it kind of looks like the best thrift store ever vomited all over them. I feel like the vegan ratio is probably pretty high in this band.
Overall, the song is fun, lively, charming and really different than anything that I have heard lately. In an era of ‘freak folk’, ‘art rock’ and ‘noise pop’, I really appreciate the straightforward quirky nature of this tune.
